Ramon Mercieca, Deputy Commissioner within the Malta Police Force graduated in Arts in 1999 and in Policing Studies in 2001 at the University of Malta, joined the forces in 2001, starting his career as a Police Inspector, where he served in various districts and led a special branch between 2011 and 2014. He also lectured in conferences held by CEPOL European Police College in Rome and for many years was a resident lecturer at the Academy for Disciplined Forces. He was promoted to the rank of Superintendent in 2015 where he served at Qawra Police Station, at the Internal Affairs and Administration within the General Head Quarters from 2016 till 2020.

In 2017 Mr. Mercieca was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner having various responsibilities at the GHQ. In July 2020 he was entrusted with the Implementation of the Transformation Strategy of the Police for the coming years. 

Mr. Mercieca was appointed to Deputy Commissioner in 2021 and is presently responsible for Field and Operational Support.
