Third-Party Training Events

Procedure for requesting the FIAU to participate in a third-party training event

The FIAU receives regular requests to participate in training events organised by third parties for educational or informative purposes. These include lectures, seminars, webinars, talks, Q&A sessions, panel discussions and conferences. Due to the considerable number of requests and the limited resources at its disposal, the FIAU can only consider an invitation to participate in a third-party event if the following two conditions are met:

1. The subject matter of the event falls within its competence.
2. The FIAU has sufficient resources to accede to the request without hampering its own guidance and outreach efforts.

In prioritising the requests it receives, the FIAU considers:

• Whether the issues, topics or areas to be addressed align with the FIAU’s training and outreach plan for any given year.
• Whether the event is organised by any one of the following:
  • an international or supranational AML/CFT related body
  • national supervisory or competent authorities as outlined in the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR)
  • subject persons’ sectorial representative bodies*

*In the case of requests from sectorial representative bodies, consideration is given to whether the sector has only recently been subject to AML/CFT obligations and/or whether the FIAU has published Implementing Procedures specific to that sector.

Additionally, the following non-exhaustive list assists the FIAU in determining whether to accept a request for participation or otherwise:

• the overall good standing of the third-party organiser
• the target audience, including the expected number of attendees
• the quality and relevance of the proposed programme/agenda
• the involvement of other participants and speakers, if any, and their relevance, reputation and expertise
• the facilitation of networking opportunities
• whether any accreditations or other types of certifications are awarded/provided to participants
• the quality and extent of publicity of the event and the overall outreach impact that the event could have

A request for the FIAU to participate in a third-party organised training event is to be submitted via the form below. Requests are to reach the FIAU at least six weeks prior to the training event.
