Procedure for requesting the FIAU to participate in a third-party training event
The FIAU receives regular requests to participate in training events organised by third parties for educational or informative purposes. These include lectures, seminars, webinars, talks, Q&A sessions, panel discussions and conferences. Due to the considerable number of requests and the limited resources at its disposal, the FIAU can only consider an invitation to participate in a third-party event if the following two conditions are met:
- The subject matter of the event falls within its competence.
- The FIAU has sufficient resources to accede to the request without hampering its own guidance and outreach efforts.
In prioritising the requests it receives, the FIAU considers:
- Whether the issues, topics or areas to be addressed align with the FIAU’s training and outreach plan for any given year.
- Whether the event is organised by any one of the following:
- an international or supranational AML/CFT related body
- national supervisory or competent authorities as outlined in the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR)
- subject persons’ sectorial representative bodies*
*In the case of requests from sectorial representative bodies, consideration is given to whether the sector has only recently been subject to AML/CFT obligations and/or whether the FIAU has published Implementing Procedures specific to that sector.
Additionally, the following non-exhaustive list assists the FIAU in determining whether to accept a request for participation or otherwise:
- the overall good standing of the third-party organiser
- the target audience, including the expected number of attendees
- the quality and relevance of the proposed programme/agenda
- the involvement of other participants and speakers, if any, and their relevance, reputation and expertise
- the facilitation of networking opportunities
- whether any accreditations or other types of certifications are awarded/provided to participants
- the quality and extent of publicity of the event and the overall outreach impact that the event could have
A request for the FIAU to participate in a third-party organised training event is to be submitted via the form below. Requests are to reach the FIAU at least six weeks prior to the training event.
