The Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) would like to draw your attention to two recent developments at EU level concerning AMLA’s ongoing supervisory preparations and the future framework for direct AML/CFT supervision within the European Union. These initiatives relate to the launch of a survey on Central Contact Points (CCPs) and the publication of a draft reporting framework that will support the 2027 eligibility data collection exercise for AMLA’s direct supervision.
EBA publishes draft reporting framework for the 2027 eligibility data collection
The European Banking Authority (EBA), as part of Release 4.4 of its reporting framework, has published a public working draft of the data model and taxonomy that will support the collection of information used to determine eligibility for direct supervision by AMLA.
The data collection exercise will take place in early 2027 and will involve obliged entities identified as provisionally eligible during 2026. The information collected will be used to confirm whether these entities continue to satisfy the eligibility criteria as of 31 December 2026, which will serve as the reference date for AMLA’s selection process.
Interested stakeholders, including private sector entities and national competent authorities, are invited to review the draft framework and provide feedback to the EBA. The consultation is open until 24 August 2026. The draft should be read in conjunction with the templates and instructions previously published by AMLA in relation to the 2026 eligibility data collection exercise.
Further information, including the draft technical package and feedback mechanism, is available on AMLA’s website.
AMLA launches survey on Central Contact Points
AMLA has launched a survey inviting Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) to provide feedback on their experience with the current Central Contact Point framework established under Article 45(9) AMLD and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/1108. The exercise forms part of AMLA’s preparatory work for future Regulatory Technical Standards under Article 41(2) AMLD.
The survey aims to gather practical insights regarding the implementation and effectiveness of CCP arrangements across the EU, including any operational challenges encountered by institutions. AMLA is conducting a parallel exercise with national competent authorities to obtain supervisory perspectives. Crypto-asset service providers are not included in this exercise as the previous CCP framework did not apply to them.
The survey will remain open until 15 September 2026, following which AMLA intends to publish a report outlining the main findings.
Further information and access to the survey are available on AMLA’s website.
