The FIAU Supports the Launch of scamalert.mt

The Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) attended the official launch of scamalert.mt on 31 August 2026, reaffirming its commitment to raising awareness of financial crime risks and promoting consumer protection.

scamalert.mt is a national scam awareness platform designed to help the public recognise, avoid, and respond to scams. The website serves as a central source of trusted information, offering practical guidance, educational resources, scam warnings, and advice on how and where to report suspicious activity.

The initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), the Malta Police Force, and the Office of the Arbiter for Financial Services – MALTA. By bringing together their expertise, these organisations aim to strengthen scam awareness, improve public resilience against fraud, and ensure that consumers have access to reliable and up-to-date information.

As scams continue to evolve in sophistication and frequency, the FIAU welcomes initiatives that empower individuals and businesses to identify warning signs and take appropriate action.

Through its analysis and dissemination of financial intelligence, the FIAU supports the work of the competent authorities and contributes to wider efforts against fraud, scams and related criminal activity. By increasing awareness and vigilance, scamalert.mt contributes to the wider national effort to combat fraud and protect the integrity of Malta’s financial system.
